- אַפּוּתָאf. (= אַפָּא) 1) nose. Targ. Job 41:12 (9). 2) front of the face, forehead. Pes.112a ידא אא׳וכ׳ the hand on the forehead is one step to sleep. Ber.44a, v. דִּידְבָא.Taan.25a מאַפּוּתֵיה out of his forehead. Ib. אפותאִי ed. (read אאפ׳), v. אִסְקוּטְלָא I.Ab. Zar.26a אאפותיה Ar. (ed. אפותא, Ms. M. אפותיה, corr.) on its (the childs) forehead.
